MAY 3, 2010 MAHWAH, NJ – Jaguar Land Rover North America today reported April U.S. sales: Jaguar sales were 896 units, 30 percent down from 1281 units in April 2009. The Jaguar brand will be significantly boosted by the return of the XJ sedan to the showroom in May; Land Rover sales were 2749 units, 35 percent up from 2043 units in April 2009. Jaguar Land Rover North America April U.S. sales for both brands total 3645 units, a 10 percent increase from 3324 in April 2009. On a calendar year to date basis versus 2009, Jaguar Land Rover North America sales are up 7 percent to 12,736 units.
"April was a very strong month for Land Rover in the U.S. and a transitional month for Jaguar as we prepare for the launch of the Jaguar XJ and Jaguar Platinum Coverage," said JLRNA President Gary Temple. "The continued increase of Land Rover sales this year shows the impact of new product in this market and gives us optimism for Jaguar sales going forward."
U.S. BRAND HIGHLIGHTS
Land RoverLand Rover's U.S. sales in April were up 35 percent, the brand's 7th consecutive month of sales growth driven by the launch of the new 2010 models. The volume leader for April was the Range Rover Sport with 1246 units sold, a 30% increase from 958 units in 2009. The re-designed 2010 LR4 sales continues to power increases for the brand, increasing 142 percent to 604 units, up from 250 in April 2009. The Range Rover increased 87 percent with 631 units versus 338 in April 2009.
For the 2010 Model Year Land Rover's lineup features four models: The 230-hp 3.0 liter I6 powered LR2; the new LR4 powered by the 375-hp 5.0 liter V8; the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, both available with the naturally-aspirated 375-hp V8 and 510-hp supercharged 5.0 liter V8 powertrains.
JaguarFor April, Jaguar's U.S. sales of the 2010 Jaguar XF sales reached 631 units, down 27 percent from 862 sales in April 2009. For the year, Jaguar XF sales are 2,438 units, down 5 percent. With the 2011 Jaguar XJ hitting the market in May, the company will now have two volume vehicles in its lineup. The Jaguar XJ marketing and sales launch begin in May with major advertising, social media and public relations activities ratcheting up to raise brand and product awareness.
For the 2011 MY, Jaguar Platinum Coverage will give Jaguar owners increased vehicle warranty coverage and the best maintenance plan in the business. The new Jaguar Platinum Coverage features a five year/50,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty and complimentary scheduled maintenance for the duration of the warranty period, including no-cost replacement of select wear and tear components, and 24/7 roadside assistance. This no-cost coverage includes oil changes, filters, brake pads, brake discs, brake fluids and wiper blade inserts.
